Chief Counting Officer Announces National Turnout and Total Votes
The Chief Counting Officer for the Scottish Independence Referendum has announced the Scotland-wide turnout. The total number of ballot papers counted in the referendum was 3,623,344 and the total turnout for Scotland was 84.6%.
The Chief Counting Officer has also announced the total votes cast across Scotland for each answer to the referendum question. A total of 1,617,989 votes were cast for Yes and a total of 2,001,926 votes were cast for No. A total of 3,429 votes were rejected.
